The Laborer has minimum of 6 months experience working in a heavy, highway and/or municipal utility construction environment, and is a person who possesses basic knowledge of proper use and care of small tools and equipment.  Knowledge also includes some basic operation of equipment required for basic tasks that may be performed.


  • Be an active participant with all safe work practices and policies.
  • Operate mobile motorized vehicles and motorized equipment, as required and trained.
  • Recognize all job related work permits and complete Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Follow and comprehend supervisor’s instructions


  • Must be capable of identifying, utilizing and operating tools and equipment associated with craft discipline
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 
  • Must have minimum of 6 months validated relevant past work experience in the construction industry. 

Successful candidate must meet all conditions of COP's Drug and Alcohol testing requirements as a condition of employment.  Drug/alcohol screening is administered post-offer and pre-employment.
